Dont boil it , or do anything that will kill everything on it. You really only need to let the die off get taken care of. You WANT the living organisms on it. It isnt live rock if its just a rock, Live Rock is only "live" due to what inhabits it once you've done away with the live things you might as well use rocks from your yard.
Just put it in a bin with a top on it for a couple weeks with an air stone or power head, if your tank doesnt have any livestock yet then put it in there and let it cure out. Just keep up on water changes . Im sure others will give more specific info than I .

Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?

You will know if its cured when you take it out of the water and smell it. Put in a container with a power head for a couple of weeks.

Yup put in in a rubbermade tub with some saltwater and a powerhead. If you have an extra skimmer use it... The smell is one way of telling...
