Default Royal Gramma & 6 Line Wrasse

Ok, I have a friend that bought 2 Royal Gramma's at our great LFS to put in his 55 gal, and then I told him it was a bad idea from what I have read. He then said he would give one to me, but I already have a 6 line wrasse, and have also read several past posts of problems with these two. Is this just something I should try and see how it goes or should I turn down this freebie?

According to Live Aquaria's compatibility chart a Basslet (Royal Gramma) and a Six Line (reef safe) wrasse are okay together.
As always it depends on the temperament of the individual fish but probably worth a try according to this chart.

Marine Compatability Chart

ok, I just wanted to run it by a few people before I ended up killing a fish. I would hate to have a fish tormented to death because of my lack on knowledge. I looked at the compatibility chart off of live aquaria, but had read a few bad things about them not getting along, so I thought I would ask. I always believe first hand experience over a chart, lol. Thanks for the reply Henry

No problem. I guess the other thing to consider now that I think on it a bit more is that the Sixlines become very territorial if they have been in the tank first and are established. You may have to try rearranging you rocks a bit or removing the sixline to a qt for a while so the gramma can get settled in.

Ok, well I put in the royal gramma about 30 min ago, and he is the only one chasing. My 6 line has been going from end to end of the tank to try and get away from the royal gramma. I am watching them close to see if they ease up. Thanks

They seem to be doing fine after the first few hours. I think all will be fine now.
