So you have an All In One tank? New discussion.
If you have an All In One tank, does not have to be a nanocube or biocube, could be a DIY project on a larger tank, do you run a fuge in any of the back chambers?
I have a 29 biocube and run a fuge in the middle chamber. It has on the bottom plate a bag of Purigan and a bag of ChemiPure Elite. This forces the water through the chemical media before it can get to the return pump. I chose not to put and rubble in the chamber because I don't believe the small amount of rock there could really assist the main tank rock very much and that the detritus from the rock itself would be hard to keep cleaned out. I then have a clump of Chaetomorpha with lots of life in the form of pods, snails, mini stars and crabs. (three crabs actually that are bad ones taken out of the main tank and banished to the fuge). There is a light that shines over it 24/7 to promote growth of the Chaeto for nutrient export.
I think the fuge is one of the most beneficial places an aquarium can have for the purposes of additional biofiltration and safety for beneficial critters to proliferate.
Tell us your thoughts and designs for a fuge in your All In One Tank. Or even if you don't have an All In One your ideas here are welcome.
