I have started doseing 80 proof vodka in my tanks and noticed a huge change in my water clarity and got rid of all diotoms and algae. Skimmer started to skim like 100 times more and all the colors of my corals really started to come out tank looks gorgous started reaserching this about a month ago and started doing it you only dose 1.5 mil. per 25 gallons. be carefull not to overdose though because it can burn up your sps corals if your not careful. I never thought this would work but it does. The only thing that it burns up alot of nutrience so you have dose heavy when feeding to get put back into your system. My tank looks really sweet though!

The reason why I posted this. I wanted to see if any of you guys started to do this or heard about it?

Some of my direct coral vendors have actually went up yo 3.0 ml. per 25 Gallons and said there corals look amazing!

Thats been around a long time. Many years now. We have a few good threads about it here somewhere. It was started in Europe and is still in practice just not as popular now.

I've read of it being used in denetrators. The whole alchahol to sugar to....you know chemical string thing. Post of pic of your tank.

Many people have tried dosing vodka. As a warning to everyone that tries or does it, please study up fully and go slowly. Dosing too much at a time or too often can cause problems.

BTW - I don't consider dosing vodka a long term solution to solving water quality (clarity or nitrates) problems. Having better tank maintenance or equipment is a better means.
