Default Poor seahorse :'(

Hi, i'm new just getting used to this site, 3 days ago i bought 2 yellow seahorses, small still babies i can say, last night i showed them to my girlfriend, she was amazed and everything, one seahorse was swimming on top and saw us right away, the other one saw us later from behind the rock and swam towards us to greet us, but it went to side a little bit cuz it swam next to the fish (Tang) and tang pushed the water alog with the sea-horse into an anemone!!!! (aprox) 12x13 inches anemone, big one, long-tentacle) anemone grabed it right away and covered it up the whole body of a seahorse!!!
My girl went CRAZY!!! yelling "save it, save it!!" and crying!! meanwhile i'm tossing light fixtures off the 65 gal and sticking my both hands in there punched the anemone a few times, it wouldn't give it up, i got stang a few times on my wrists, then i saw a little piece of a seahorse sticking out and i just grabbed it and pulled it!! seahorse was out but went all black from strees and couldn't move (poisoned) but was still breathing. i set up a 5 gal tank right away and moved them both there this morning one is doing great the other one is still alive tho but doesn't eat much, may be one a two shrimps. but seems to be improving, PHEW!!! what a stress that was i'll post pics of the anemone and the seahorse soon i just don't have time right now.

Tangs and anemones are not compatible with seahorses as the tang feeds so fast that the seahorse will starve. A seahorse has no scales and is a poor swimmer so they are anemone snacks.

Seahorses live longer in a species specific tank or one with slow moving, non aggressive fish that do not compete with them for food. Mandarin fish work great.

Cheers,

James
