Default green mushrooms go brown

Hi
We bought some live rock with 3 green mushrooms on it. After a few hours the mushrooms turned brown. We've moved them from bottom of the tank to the top and it hasn't made any difference. With the blue uv light its green but when the white light is on it's brown. Any ideas anyone pls. see attachment.

Hi Debbie, first let me say it looks like a fairly large aiptasia to the right of the mushrooms, get some Joes' juice and kill that one or it will affect the mushrooms and spread out of control. The color issue seems to be due to the lighting you have as compared to the LFS lighting. Although, 3 hours seems a short time to me for a color change but it seems to have happened. If you like the Green color, ask the LFS what lights they had it under and duplicate that.

As unclejed said, It sounds like you need to find out and replicate what kind of light the LFS was using in order to duplicate the colour. The LFS may have been bulbs with a high blue spectrum maybe 20,000K's? Another tip is to add iodine to your tank? I believe that mushrooms really benefit from iodine supplementation and color improves/ intensifies with continued use;although some may disagree. From my experience, I think that they prefer a tank with elevated Iodine concentrations at approx. .06ppm. and I dose with TM Pro Coral Iodine.
