Default Guppies in fuge

It dawned on me that chaeto is perfect for rearing guppy fry. Considering I have several guppies in a 10g FW planted tank that live on plant matter, I think guppies would make good of cleaning the detritus from the chaeto. Or at least eating food that ends up in the fuge. The fry would make their way to the display and become food the way pods do.
But I don't want the guppies to deplete the pod population. Right now they are crawling all over chaeto. What do you think? Will the guppies eat 'em all? Anyone tried this? I bet chaeto would work better than java moss for breeders.

I had some baby guppies in a saltwater tank for a couple months and they slowly died off. Not sure they can handle the full strength saltwater like mollies can. They tolerated it for awhile since they were young but once they got more into adulthood they grew weaker and died off. Cool idea though.

I kept guppies in 0.19SG for about 6 months. Seemed fine til I skipped a step with the brine.... that was a bad idea. lol

Edit: Oh yeah, I used a breeder net to store excess males in my old sump. One got out and it lived in my sump for probably a year til he met certain doom. My GF even named him. She wasn't happy when he was fodderized.
