Default What Might This "Growth" Be?

I could use some advice having noticed a pinkish, fibrous looking "growth" on some of my live rock. It is located in a couple of areas protected somewhat from direct light (metal halides). It does not have the same appearance as the coraline algae in the tank. My system is 18 months old. Does anyone have an idea? I don't recall ever coming across this in any of my readings and want to be sure it is safe in the long run. Thanks!

Will need a little more detailed description and/or a picture.

A photo would certainly help. Could you be describing bryozoans?
See BryozoanFAQs and see if the photos there look similar.

Perhaps these are what you describe. Tried to get pictures, but just too hard to get details to show well. They are pink and looks like there are some "spikes" growing out of them.
