Hair Algae oh fun.....I had it 14 month's ago....I used a medium to the touch tooth brush and brushed each rock....How long is your lighting on? You should buy new bulb's every year...Also try weekly water change's..

Default Hair algae

I had hair algae in my tank a few months ago too, had to use a toothbrush to scrub it off and found putting the lights on timers works really well to cut back regrowth.

I too have had bouts with hair algae and I have used a toothbrush as well. patience is the biggest key, No matter why it is there or how you go about getting rid of it, it takes time. It won't go away overnight.

had a problem with hair algae twice and both times were linked to phosphates. first time too much feeding and lighting, the next i ran out of r.o. water and used treated tap water. check the phosphates and then scrub.

r.o., a.k.a reverse osmosis, is a method of purifying water that uses a permeable membrane that filters out most all impurities in water. some people use a r.o. and u.v. sterilizer to kill off all nasties that are in the drinking water. reverse osmosis systems are rated by g.p.d, gallons per day, it's a great set-up and will bennifit your tank greatly

a bali sea hare will destroy any alge you ever have
you just will have to find it a new home once he cleans your tank or they will starve
