What are your water parameters?
| ||||
Can you be more specific. I am a newbie and have been relying on the local dealer to test my water. The tank is 4 weeks old, 14 gal. Bio cube, 15 lbs. of liverock, two soft corals, two clowns, live sand as a base, water temp 80 deg. I am only running the powerhead that came with the unit, but was told to add another. I have done 1 25% water change, which seemed to accelerate the algae growth.

I've been having some similar algae problems. I think its because I use tap water. not RO. Although I live in an area with some of the best ground water in the country, there is always stuff in any unfilter or RO water. Good luck with that, i let ya know what werks fo me!

i dont mean to sound like a jerk but did i read ur tank is 4 weeks old and 14 gals if so who would let you stock your tank with corals i think i would look for a new store that gives better advice like i said i not trying to coe off rude but a 14 gal tank 4 weeks into a cycle isnt stable enough for corals imho i think your alge blooms are part of a second cycle most tanks get anyhow good luck

I had to cut back on my light time. I want to see the tank til 9pm, so now it doesn't turn on til Noon. That made a big difference for me. Also I added later on, an ionizer called Aqualizer. That made my water seem to stay much cleaner and reduce the green algae.
