Default Temp problems

I'm having issues with my temperature. I am thinking that the heat from my light fixture is causing the problem. My element is set at 76 degrees, but my tank maintains a temp of 79 to 80. This started happening once I bought my new light fixture. Its a Coralife 4ft, with two 65w 12,000K compact flor. and two 65w blue atinic, and the little LED moonlights. It seems that the temp is slightly lower in the morning, and it pretty much peaks in the eve. at about 79. Should I worry about this? Any suggestions? I'm thinking 79 to 80 is pushing the limits. Maybe I could raise the lights a little more? btw, I used to have some acrylic squares covering the tank because I have cats, but that made the temp stay way too high. So I took the acrylic off of the tank.

Also, I seem to have a considerable amount of evaporation going on. Looks to be about 3/4 of an inch every 7 days on a 55 gal tank. What do yall think?

This tank has been up and running for two and half monthes.

Thanks for the help!

You should try avoid having the tempeture change any more than 4-5 degrees throughout the day if you have corals. 80 degrees isnt a big deal really. No need to worry about it being to hot until it gets over 82-83 degrees.

on the current, two power heads, one is 820 gph, the other is 265 gph, plus the filter. about the heater calibration, im not sure, however, before i got the new lights, it pretty much nailed the temp it was set to.

thanks guys

you can also try running a simple clip on fan to blow across the top of your tank, aimed at the water. This could help with the heat from the lights. Also, as you said, try moveing the lights away from the tank.
