Default anemone info required

i bought a veitnam sadleback carpet anemone, witch my clown fish love, but can't find any related info or genus name for it also it seems to have a very large oral opening compared to the other carpet anemones i have seen, is this o.k. ?

Where did you get it? It looks like a young Stoichactis sp. (maybe gigas). If so, i believe they get very big (up to 1 m. in the wild) and are aggresive toward other anemone. On the upside, many species of clowns are hosted by this genera. Humans also sensitize quickly to their sting so wear gloves.

i got it at lfs, he is very sticky hard to feed without getting stuck to him. thank you for the info its nice to know

with the open mouth gap like that , it could be stressed a touch from the clown loving it up or you may have a nitrate spike in your tank, heck it could even be gettin ready to expell some wastes

if you test your water and the nitrates are a touch high, just do a quick waterchange, if you do a couple small changes over the course of a couple days it will have a better impact on nitrate removal over one larger water change.

it's been like that since i brought it home two months ago lfs said it had a large oral opening normally in the wild wandering if thats true seems to be growing leeps and bounds gaining an inch or two in diameter every week.

If its been like that since day 1 for you and appears fully healthy and is very sticky and eats well, I wouldnt worry about it then...

A friend of mine, his anemones mouth stays open a touch just like yours, its been fine for months

here it is with its pair of skunks. thanks for all the help one more question, how often do you think this one will eat? i feed 2 times a week maybe more?
