| Dead rock is basically rock that has been removed from water & allowed to toally dry out killing anything that was on/in it. If the rock has been in water it is no doubt "live" to some extent depending on how long it has been in the water. Bubbling isn't a true sign of live rock.

| "live rock" is just an easy way of saying that there are living organisims on or in the rock...over a period of time you will see things grow out of it or crawl on or in it...the live orginisms normally come out a night...once the lights have been out for about an hour shine a flash light onto the rocks and u will see clear little bugs run around... |
