i used phosgard by seachem i also let the hair algae run its corse which may not be sound advice but it worked for me. once the coriline alge took off and a good establishment of a few macro alges the hair alge slowly went by the way side. lately i have notice that i have a little in my refugium but i guess that's what a refugium is for. [ macro algae can be just as big of a pain as hair but a little easier to control]

i think hair aglea and other micro algeas' are good signs of a maturing tank and it won;t be long before easy sailing ( kind of!)

I've found a small amount of hair algae is OK. My Powder Brown Tang, Lawn Mower Blenny just chomp away at it. Also, I've seen some copepods in it. I limit the algae to a few spots on the LR and back of tank.
