Default Live sand - Should I stir it up?

Hi;
I have a 75 gal aquarium with live sand and live rock.. Should I stir up the sand once in a while while doing my water changes or should I just let it get hard and crusty.

Ideally you should have some sand stirrers in your tank. If not, it's not a bad idea to getnly stir the surface.

i noticed that the other day when i was aquascaping... i didn't realize that the sand would become hard like mine did... what's a good "sand stirrer"?? i know in the next week or so i'll be getting a cleaner crew, so some sand sifting snails should be in there, right?

Will horseshoe crabs bother any other occupants in an aquarium?

Horseshoe crabs are not considered reefsafe, and they grow far too large for the average aquarium. Try a sand sifting star, some snails, or something like that instead.

I wouldn't use crab's to stir sand.......Go with sand siffting starfish and a good cleanup crew your better off.............
