Default sweet reef idea!

ok guys, tell me what you think.... converting a swimming pool into a saltwater/reef aquarium! i thought about this while trying to sleep last night... i understand there will be several major problems, but it would be nice to see... the reason i'd like to see this, is because of the idea of swimming in "the ocean" anytime you want... i've seen people that convert a swimming pool into a koi pond all the time, i just thought a reef would be cooler... but, first of all, how would you regulate the temperature, prevent pollutants from getting into the water, and, for that matter, how would you get that much RO water AND salt? you'd have to get a water tank filled with ocean water and have it delivered to your house... not to mention how big of a protein skimmer would you need? and how to keep the sand from going down the drain, or keeping it all level, even where the depth goes from 4ft to 8 ft or whatever... ok, so it may not necessarily be worth the money to get it all set up, but its not completely impossible either... i mean, there's aquarium parks all over the country that has saltwater aquarium TONS bigger than a swimming pool...some even have tunnels going through them that people can walk through! i'm just saying i think having a swimming pool for a reef in your back yard would be awesome!

The wiki article is more to the point about the tank, I would look at this first then the aquariums actual website.

wow, i figured people would call me stupid for even thinking something like this...lol... granted, i don't have the funds, or even the pool, to even think about starting something like this... just thought that i might put a "dream" in the minds of some fellow reefers! if anyone wants to persue this idea of mine, look me up in about 10 years when its completed, and i'll come check it out! lol... you might even be able to make the money spent back! charge money to let people come and swim around for a while, let them watch the corals/fish/etc.. possibly even frag some of the corals! of course, by the time you get to that point, you'd have to have a business license, and have to pay extra taxes and stuff..lol

Thats a neat tank glampka. I dont think i would every set up a tank outside even if i lived in some place that winter doesn't occur. I like how some people are just up for the challenge. I would probly rather make an addition on my house than put a tank outside...but thats just personal prefference.
