For those that have small kids who have their own setup: what kind of livestock have your kids asked for? How big is their tank?
My 3 year old has only asked for a firefish and a couple of featherdusters, thus far. He has a 20 gallon, about 20 lbs of liverock, a few turbo snails, a few hitchhiker snails, a couple of chromis, a royal gramma, a scooter blenny, a watchman goby, hermit crabs and a coral banded shrimp. He does not have coral since he is only 3, and I am trying to keep it simple...plus, we will not always be living in El Paso! I have plenty of time to upgrade when we get out of the military.

my 5 year old and 2 year old love the 2 clownfish we have. i like the maroon clown the best...very nice looking. i also put in a firefish, a green chromis, a scarlet hawkfish(very cool fish to watch), a orange spotted goby, a scooter blenny, and the usual crabs and snails. if you really want to get your kids laughing, get a horseshoe crab. look it up on the net...looks like a hardshelled stingray, has all these legs underneath it...cant swim worth a crap so its all over the place. then it goes under the gravel and hides until it wants to come out later, then you see this lump moving under the surface. kids get a kick out of it.
