Default blue-green chromis and aggression

Well, I lost a chromi yesterday, amongst my other drama. I started out with 3 chromis. My husband injured one while getting him out of the bag and he lasted a few days. The other 2 were fine for a couple of weeks and then yesterday one had a nice bite on top of his fishy head. I couldn't figure it out, I have super shy fish in the tank and my CBS was molting so he was playing the complete coward. Then I read on wetwebmedia that in the case of 2 chromis, one might bully the other one to death. Can anyone concur on this tidbit?

I've never known chromis to be aggresive. Like them if I use fish to cycle a tank since I don't have to worry about them attacking anything later. I've kept 2 with no problems.

i've heard that its best to keep an odd number; i have no idea why, but they say that if you have an even number, they will gang up on one of the other chromis until he dies...... i've heard this from several sources... maybe its just an old wives' tale... i mean, i don't see how a fish or group of fish could be like "well boys, there's 6 of us here... who's up for russian roulette?"

I have read that they can be aggressive, but have not heard of anyone having a problem.

very timid and hardy. I keep 2. could this possibly be an injury from something else perhaps a power head.
