Default livesand

live sand is expensive and i am trying to get a deep sand bed so i was wondering if i could get sand and seed it with about 1 pond of live sand and if i can what sand should i use play sand or somthing like that i am going to add sand sifter gobies eventualy please help me out

when i moved up to my 150 i couldn't afford live so i bought dry sand and just seeded it with my live rock from my old tank it's alive now and i saved alot of money

Check out Geothermal Aquaculture Research Foundation Home Page for GARF Grunge. That stuff has all sorts of good stuff in it for your sand bed. You can mix it in the top layer of your bed.

GARF Grunge is not all it's cracked up to be. Don't do anything, your sand will be live by the time your tank finishes cycling anyway.
