Default Mud in my sump.

There is a company called Eco System Aquariums that carries a product called "Miracle Mud". It is a system of growing Calerpa macro algae bedded in this mud in the sump. The system releases iron, iodine and other vital elements in a natural leaching method. It takes place of dosing most supplements.
Has anyone tried this? My marine dealer is going to try it and thinks this is the new method of the future. He thinks it should be used in addition to a protein skimmer for an added precaution. The web site and testimonials list it as replacing the protein skimmer completely.
Any thoughts?

I have tried it . I wouldnt say that it is a bad product, but I also wouldnt say that its revolutionary either. Its just another product. It does what it says but its not any different from any other product doing what it says it does.
