Default Trigger in a reef?

I have a 55 gallon tank and I am wanting to keep a few corals. I have one small polyp in there and my humu trigger doesn't bother it. I also have a Herald's Angelfish. Are there any types of corals I can keep? I like the pumping xenia branches, starburst polyps, mushrooms and leathers. Any advice from anyone?

I wouldnt recommend it. From what I have read about them they are not reef safe by any means. They may not bother your coral but then again they might. For the coral's sake I say dont risk it

I had a clown trigger in my 60gal reef and it didn't bother any of my corals ( bubble, torch, elegance, green plate, polyps, sun, brains and pagoda. But the only clean up crew was tubro snails, they might eat herrmit crabs in the wild they eat crustations but mine was well feed and I got him when he was 1.5 inches long and he lived for 4 years in this tank with no problems

Good luck
Scott

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I may try a few corals at a time and see how it goes. I have a 10 gallon tank and I have been toying with the idea of setting up a mini reef, so if I decide to add a few here and there, if my humu gives any trouble, I can move the corals. But like I say, I have one small trumpet polyp in there now and he hasn't bothered it so far so we'll see what happens. Thanks again.

if you are going to keep a trigger in a reef, the humu is the one. He is probably the only trigger, unless you like file fish, they can sometimes be okay in a reef tank

I have heard that the Blue Throat Trigger is the most peaceful of all triggers. My humu is fairly peaceful, but he is small. The only thing he bothers is crabs and snails. I know better than to try shrimp or any other motile inverts.

Everything that I've read about triggers says that when they grow up, they become aggressive and are not reef safe.

some recent info.... unfortunately I had to get rid of my humu... I really hated to but my tank was in desperate need of a cleanup crew. I bought some mexican turbo snails, and it wasn't 1 hour until he was feasting so I took him to my local store and traded him in for a Blue Hippo Tang. And that really opens my options as far as what I can do now, so I have ordered some shrimp, more snails and crabs, a couple corals, along with a feather duster and a tiger striped serpeant sea star. But thanks for all of your input. I close with this Humu in a reef? NO
