Default bristle worms

It has been years since I built my last reef. I purchased a Red Sea Max (awesome product). I loaded it with some local shop's cured rock. I found one large piece to have a few bristle worms. Horrified, I google searched remedies. Aside from tweezers and patience. I bought a coralife trap. I tried it for a couple of days, nothing......... I installed a new chiller last night. I took the tank from 82 to 78 degrees. Guess what, I see worms all over the one large rock at the bottom. I then loaded up the trap with the supplied bait, not just one piece like the instructions suggested, turned off the light and set the trap one inch from the rock. WOW, I've trapped 8 worms in a little over an hour. I guess the lower temps make the worms active. I'll have the rock empty in a day or so, thank god for trial and error.

To tell you the truth, I stopped messing with removing the worms from the rocks. I have a coral banded shrimp who takes care of my worms. I figured I would leave the worms to it as long as I didn't see anything like on the SciFi channel. I really haven't seen any bristleworms in either of my tanks since they were cycled, nothing like some of the people in these forums are witnessing. I guess I am lucky. Looks like I have plenty of other worms though.

the tank is about a month old, I have put all cured rock in it and have never seen a real spike of ammonia or nitrite. The water test reveals 0 ppm of everything at the moment. I was kind of waiting for a couple of months before adding shrimp, corals, etc.... I think I might try to introduce a shrimp now. I just hope the tanks is cycled and ready for inverts. do you think im ready for shrimp?

It might be a good idea to wait a couple of weeks...not saying that they couldn't survive now, my husband rushed the tanks and the shrimp have survived, but that you might as well give them the best chance possible for a successful life. Also, what kind of shrimp are you looking to get? I am sure that someone else with a little more experience will pipe in soon!

I would like coral banded, and cleaner. I have a couple of fish, bicolor blenny, and the traditional starter damsel. I'll introduce a hippo on Saturday, that I've picked out and had quarantined at the store..

I've read that CBS and cleaners do not do well together. You may want to start a whole new thread to inquire about the shrimp scenario. You should get better responses that way!
