Default Question about Refugium

Hello

Well I don't have the $$ to get an off the tank Refugium + lighting, but what do you think about adding this to the inside of the tank? I have a 46 Gal Bow Front.

eBay: CITR, In-Tank Refugium, Small, Hand Crafted by CPR (item 280075369113 end time May-26-07 12:54:47 PDT)

Let me know what you think....

Dan

Here is a simple idea for a fuge if you have a sump. Im going to use a rubber made storage bin that holds 10 gallons. with a 1/2 inch tee from my drain line I will gravity feed the fuge and then gravity down to the return pump. Total cost 15$'s.

Did you look for something that hangs on the back of the tank?

The aquafuges are awesome HOB refugiums. I have the biggest model on my tank. It really doesnt accomplish much biological filtration on my 180, but the little thing probably has more copepods in it than my tank does. For a 46 gallon tank this would be the ideal thing to use.

If all you want to do is grow a few pods and get some help with denitrification those things should be perfect.

If I got one of those HOB refugiums can I put a mandarin Dragonet in there or should I put it in the main tank and just use the refugiums to feed the dragonet?

An HOB fuge would be way to small for any fish I would think. They are the world champion picky eaters and often starve when the sand bed is empty.I read an article by Anthony calfo where he said there average life expectancy is about 3 months in small tanks. Some will eat live foods such as brine shrimp and a rare few will eat flake but generally the odds are against it.
