Default Alien Abduction !!!!!!

We had a BEAUTIFUL--- HEALTHY Sleeper Goby. HAD is the key word here. He was booking around grazing on the substrate and happily digging himself a home on Saturday night.
Sunday morning came and he is GONE!!

We have 2 clowns, 1 fire fish and a Purple Tipped Anenome. That is IT.

All of our intakes have screens....

He was the largest fish we had...

There is NO SIGN of him. We even moved the rock around to no avail.

We have a glass top that is ALWAYS closed. He could'nt have jumped.

Short of contacting the Air Force does anyone have ANY ideas? Could he be buried under the sand sleeping? After all, he is a Sleeper Goby.

The only thing that we can think of is that we have been looking at the tank in the dark and there is one hairy arm that sticks itself out of one of the rocks in the dark.

NO it isn't Green. Could there be something living in the rock that could have ate him whole? Sure doesn't seem possible. We moved the anenome and there was no sign of him there...

Here fishy fishy. Where is our little fishy?

Our only LOGICAL explaination is Alien Abduction.....

If you have an open top on the tank, have a look on the floor behind it...

Some gobies tend to be jumpers...

yeah i was thinking that too. i lost my yellow tang when i was doing this the first time around. i never found him until about 2-3 mos later, he had jumped out the tank, and bounced to a nearby curtain and died behind it. RIP buddy!

Since you already said that you have a cover on you tank, so he couldn't have jumped, maybe he died and something ate him, or maybe the hairy arm is somesort of hitchiker on you rock that is bad. Dis you move the rock around a lot and look in all of the holes? Something could pull him into a hole and make it hard to find.

We have looked litterally EVERYWHERE. We know that we have some worms living in the rock and it appears that we might have a hairy skinny armed thing living in there too. Our rock doesn't have any holes large enough to pull him into.

We don't know.

Can anyone recommend the best light to watch the tank when it is dark? We have been told that there is a Red light that the fish etc can't see but would allow us to watch to nocturnal animal activity...

I want my fishy back :-(

One other thing. This morning there was a worm like thing coming out of one of the rocks and it had a piece of our Hairy Gorilla Nipple (coral) suspended off of the substrate. The corral is only the size of the tip of your pinky so it isn't very big. When I turned on the flashlight the worm like thing dropped the coral.

What kind of clean up crew do you have. Possibly the clean up crew could have "cleaned" him up overnight

How big is your purple tip anemone? How big was your gobie? I've had sleeper gobies and they've disappeared for "weeks" in the sand and rubble, only to suddenly appear. Don't give up until you find a body?

Clean Up Crew consists of 2 Turbo Snails, 3 (Little Snails ??) 3 Hermit Crabs and

USED TO CONSIST OF MY GOBY (Sniff Sniff)

The Anenome is about as large as the diameter of a standard size coffee cup.

The Goby was about 4 inches long.

We have a fair amount of sand in the bottom. Maybe he is under it somewhere. There is NO SIGN of any parts of him at all.

Taras,

They just vanished and then came back? Our tank is a 33 cube. It sure seems like he couldn't get lost in there but I hope you are right.

As for flashlights, I use my daughters tiny princess one, then take a lid from a throw away container (gladware or ziploc) that is clear red, fold it over a few times and look through that. It shines a deep red then and doesn't seem to bug the critters that are sleeping. I am sure you can get a red bulb somewhere but this works for me!
