You need to set up a hospital Tank, for the fish.

What fish has the ich?

When my Yellow Tang had black ich, the local FS recommended a series of freshwater dips for the infected fish. I did this 3 or 4 times everytime I would see the black spots come back and after the 4th dip they have not returned. I have read that the dips should be anywhere from 1-20 minutes in duration. I think 20 minutes may be too long. I averaged about five minutes and monitored the fish closely for any signs of labored breathing. Hope this helps!

Default Ich

The best thing to control Ich from happening is buying a uv sterilizer. They're aren't cheap, but it kills the parasites in your water. I've had a couple fish die from ich even after putting them in a hospital tank. I figured at the price of each fish in the long run the uv sterilizer is cheaper. I han't had a problem since.

Mixing your food with garlic juice also works. I've been ich free for over 7 years now.

if you have a reef tank dont use a uv sterilizer all the time it will also kill good bacteria you need for the reef. i used mine about 10 hrs a day at first and droped the time down to 4-5 hrs a day one the ich started to go away. after the ich was gone i still ran uv for about a month and havent seen anything since
