Default Sand Bed

when I had my reef set up 5 years ago I used south down Play sand with live sand as a catalyst.
My question is do they still make southdown play sand and if they do is it still safe to use in a tank?

Check its' composition. Some sands are silicate based - you don't want to use them.

Most sand beds these days are sugar fine sand of 4 inch's or more. But I guess its all a matter of taste.I have heard of a few over 12 inch's. But thats like having a tank full of sand lol.
