Hey Team,

This may or may not make sense but please bear with me.

My porcupine puffer has developed a very strange spot under his right eye and belly area. It almost looks like spilt coffee, and it appears to be raised/swollen.

The set up is as follows: 150 gallon, nitrates 0-a trace, ammonia 0 ph 8.2, temp 78'. Lives in harmony with a volitan lion, huma trigger, dog face puffer and flame angel.

Any random thougts and or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Jessi

Okay...

Today it looks grey and swollen. Hasn't anyone ever seen this before??? I know this site is full of brilliance.

He is still eating a little, but he is swimming fast and looks SAD!

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

My only guess, if the lionfish is smaller than the buffer, is that he brushed against a tentacle or two and those're just swollen due to the encounter. Not all lionfish venom encounters are meant to be lethal.

Thank you so much for responding. Puffy passed away today

I am confident it was a fungus of some sort...I got on another forum and people there were very helpful. I did treat him in the hospital tank, but I think it was too late.

Thanks again for responding,
Jess
