Default Clam question

LiveAquaria has a 3 pack on sale, 2 Maxima and one Derasa. From what I have read the Maxima likes to be on the LR and the Derasa is a happy on the sand. I have a 250 HQI, will the Maxima be ok in the sand if they fall off the rock? Do they ask you to put them high on the rock to make sure they get light if you don't have a MH?

Thank you in advance for your time

Dan

Default Re: Clam question

crocea's and maxima are the clams that need the most intense light...

Being you have a 250watt HQI halide, you maxima would be fine on the sand IMO

I have a crocea on my sand bed, its been fine for months now, I have dual 250 watt moguls...

Thanks for the info Keith...I will give them a nice home. Any heads up on feeding, do I need to turn off water flow and feed direct???
