Do you have heavy lighting, metal halides? T5? PC?
Is your tank covered?

how big is your tank? there are only a few things you can really do and i am no expert in this by any means....

1. by a chiller but those are expensive but if you have a large tank it may be needed.

2. the lid might need to come off to let heat escape or if its a nano tank open up the lid and blow a fan across the surface of the water...if its a nano i have heard people say you can replace the stock fan blowers with new ones that are more powerful to remove heat from the lights

3. you could always freeze some RO water and drop it into the tank or leave it in the tuperware container like a fake ice cube.

I use a fan and when it gets to warm for that to handle i float frozen 2 liter bottles and the RO ice cubes. Cant afford the chiller yet.

I recently read that if you have powerheads in your tank and one or more are getting old they can be a source for additional heat in the tank.

I am no expert but as I mentioned I recently read that somewhere on the net.

I just ordered a chiller for mine. Mini Prime In-Line Chiller - 1/15 HP. Another $254 in the tank!

My temps are climbing into the mid 80's and chiller won't be here until Wednesday.

It is heating up here in Florida on the island with no relief in sight!

What's your heater's temperature set to? Have you tried dialing it down?

My 24G was warming to 86 degrees while the MH was on during the day. I put a floor fan about 4 feet away on low and it has kept the temp between 78-80 which is perfect.

Yesterday I ordered a fan that looks to be made for a fuge, but am going to put it on the back of my tank to move air between my MH and water. Google Azoo Cooling Fan I found one on DrsFosterandSmith on backorder so went ahead and spent a little extra (we are going on vacation and didn't want the housesitter to have to worry about the temp) and purchased from Aquaculture Supplies, Pond Supplies, Lake Aeration, Aquarium Supplies, Orlando, Florida..

Sounds like you're getting it under control. If you move air across the top of your tank, you will probably experience some increased evaporation...keep a jug of fresh close by..
