Default The Red Weed

Hello does anybody know how to controll red algae. I use R.O water and have a rowaphose reactor. Until now I have had a problem with hair algae but that is now going and being overgrown with a blanket of this red stuff. I dont think the tank is over stocked and there is plenty of water movement and light. I seem to have employed all the technology avaliable and still have a problem with this algae.

What is plenty of water movement ?

How old are your light bulbs ? I've been told as they age and change spectrum that it can cause algae blooms of the cyano sort... (I'm also battling a small outbreak, I have 52x turnover and employ both carbon and phosphate reacotrs, I have new MH bulbs on the way, I'll let you know how I make out when they get here..)

My water movement is 4000lh and my tank hold 300l. I try not to over feed my fish see what you think of this. I have 2 small common clowns, 1 manderine, 1 ghost gobbie, 1 4inch long box fish, 1 cleaner wrasse, 2 cleaner shrimps, 30 ish spiney turbo snails and 3 reef crabs. I feed this lot 2 cubes of brine or myasis shrimp a day and twice a week I will put a very small fish in for the crabs and shrimps. Let me know what you think.

20x turnover rate is a good rate.
