Update on the bubble algae. It seems that after I put the rock back into the tank, I now have a hermit crab munching away at what is probably leftover scrapeoff bubble algae on the spot where it was. I did see another bubble that I missed however. The rock certainly looks different when it's out of the tank.

i have a few green emerald crabs and they eat up green hair algea. Not the bubble variety. also the lighter green emerald crabs are far more aggressive than the regular emerald color. They are a good clean up crew and eat anything that makes it to the bottom. I wouldn't put a few of them in a really small tank, i have heard of people having problems with them but only when they are confined.
