Default lighting and additives question

I have a couple of questions. The first is about what additives should be placed into your tank. I have many different types of corals in my tank. I have things from just regular polyps, mushrooms, xenia and candy corals.(I plan on adding much more but it has only been set up for 2mo) We have had a 55 gal tank for several years but pretty much lost everything when we moved. We have recently set up a 125 gal. The lady that really does wonderful job helping us said that the only things that we needed to add to our tank water would be B-Ionic Ca buffer and DT's Live Phytoplankton. I just wanted to make sure that there was nothing else that needed to be added. According to the B-Ionic bottle it also replaces Iodine, Strontium, etc pretty much all needed elements.
We also bought T5 lighting. Which looks awesome. however my green candy corals are staying closed up....i placed them on the bottom of the tank today thinking maybe that would help...just didnt know if there was anything else i needed to do with that.
Thanks so much for your help

I can give my opinoin on the additives...test before dosing. Many times the things you need come with water changes...sometimes not, but why buy additives until and unless you need them.

I think a good rule is "if you cant test for it dont put it in the tank" well with the acception of food.

First off, I am good with my calcium, which is important for some coral. I am at the right place with iodine and all of that other fun stuff. Phytoplankton is important, I use Reef Nutrition (Welcome to Reef Nutrition) and I also feed some meaty foods to my brain coral. I have used Kent's Essential Elements, but it made my calcium go up, so I am not going to mess with that for awhile.

My experiences with DTs haven't been great. However, I know plenty of people who use it and love it. If you are talking about feeding the corals you have currently then everythime you scrape algae off the glass you will be feeding them.

If you want to passively feed them and give your fish a really good meal I find Cyclopeeze to be the best food to come out in years.
