| Yes it is considered live. One thing to consider first and foremost is that pollutants my not be present in the water but will stay in the sand for a long while. I am not sure about Florida, but California has some of the most polluted beaches and would never use local sand. |

| I am sure there is a shoal somewhere offshore to get all the sand you want,and maybe even some live rock.However it might be illegal to collect it.Around mid november you can send me three 5 gallon buckets full lol. |

| I'm a diver too. I used the live sand from my own backyard. No problems here. The fish and inverts are from my own backyard too. |
