Coral from bookshelf - can it go in a tank?

i have a 55 gal tank now that has been up about 6 weeks. I used like rock to cycle and now have 5 damsels, 2 clowns, 1 puffler, 1 wrasser and 1 royal gramma, some hermits and snails, 1 flame scallop. I had a different saltwater tank 15 years ago and things are delinately different  .

I have 3 larger pieces of coral that have been on display on a shelf for years. Can they go into the tank now? My husband wants them off the shelf and I need things to make hiding spots in my tank. Also would i need to boil them to make sure they are safe?

Thanks

I Had Decorative Coral In My Tank, I Bleached Them When I Cleaned My Tank, Be Careful Rinse Them With Plenty Off Hot Water And Then Let Them Soak Until You Cannot Smell The Bleach Anymore. I Did This For Year's, No Harm To The Inmates At All.

I did it and it does look really nice. I might have to look for more. At some point I'll take a picture.
