Are you refering to Cyano bacteria?... Are you running a protein skimmer?.. What kind?.. How often are you doing water changes?.. How often do you feed?.. Are you using RO/DI water?.. What brand salt are you using?.. What's in the tank as far as livestock?.. How much flow do you have?... How old is the tank?...

Hold on, I'll think of a few more ...

hi there, i am unfamiliar with the term cyano bacteria, yes i am running a skimmer it is a pryzm, i do water changes every week i have a tank i use for mixing heating circulating and salting my water. I feed pretty much every other day, yes i am using ro water, i use instant ocea salt. As far as live stock that of which i have managed to keep i have a 6 bar angel, cleaner wrase, false grammer, and 2 puffer fish. Flow i am using an ehim filter system which i am told is fine for the set up as i am using a 99 galln tank, and the tank is 2 years old. i hope thatis helpful and you can help

I assumed you had a bacterial algae bloom of some sort?... Cyano is an algae that can thrive in poor water conditions... Excessive phosphates usually is the culprit, but if you have another problem, this may not help you... What did you mean when you said you have a bacterial problem, I assumed (we all know what happens when we do that) it was related to an algae bloom... Sorry...

We call it red slime algae but it is a bacteria. If it is redish brown and silky looking it is probably red slime and water quality might be suffering chemiclean works well for me but you need to do water change of 20% after 48 hours. It works by binding disolved solids (way cool) it is not a antibiotic treatment. You may need to treat acouple of times but it really works well for me . Be sure and syphon off as much of the dying bacteria as possible because dying cyano cultures more bacteria. Good luck.

Guys i think we are all talking about different things here and it is probally my fault, the problems are that my fish in particular my 6 bar angel keeps on developing pop eye and cloudy eye, after treating with a bacterial infection treatment it goes but comes back about 1 week later and i am getting this all the time. My water quality is PERFECT and i am told that it could be too perfect does this ring any bells
