Worms In My Tank

Wow today is the first day after I turned out the lights that I actually looked in my tank and saw this like really long worm in my live rock. My tank has been running now for like a week or so and this is the first time I am seeing this.. Is this bad or should I take the rock out and kill this little thing

Did it look like this?

That is a bristle worm, and they are a harmful pest! They will take over your tank very quickly. Arrow crabs work really good to remove them from your tank. You can also get a worm trap from any saltwater fish store! I had a recent insident with my tank nitrogen levels going to high. 3 fish died, as did all of my sand crabs snails etc... The next morning i had so many of those worms in my tank it was rediculous!
Feel free to let us know your opinion on a pest forum as well. Help identify these sort of things!

i have no idea i was wondering the same thing cause i have heard of some worms getting so big that they could kill fish like our fire fish gobies that sleep under rocks. it hasn't been a problem for us yet tho but i don't wanna wait til i do have problems. We just got a coral banded shrimp will it kill worms?

Yes coral banded shrimp will eat worms! Just make sure not to put too much food in the tank or the shrimp will eat it instead of the worms!
