Please talk to your lfs, and see if you can trade some in. People actually buy zoanthids. If you could ship me some, I'd be glad to take some off your hands.

I read that zoanthids need less light and low water flow - is that right?

Would it be possible for you to post a pic if your tank? I would love to see a tank over run by Zoanthids! Could be worth some $$$$

I have a tank overrun with brown polyps/zooanthiads. I took pics but can't find the cord to download them. I will keep looking.

My questions still have not been answered. What kind of light do they need, and are you willing to frag and sell?

I have mine under two 265 watt pc's on my 90 gallon. I would be willing to trade some xenia for some zoos.

Finally found the camera cord. These brown zoos/button polyps are out of control. Since they aren't colorful compared to others they really aren't worth anything. I have tried and can't give them away even to the lfs. Anyways, this is what my tank looks like when they really love their enviroment.

I took one of these brown polyps and put it in my larger tank. In 3 months it has now grown to a count of 37 polyps. I need to get it out before that tank looks like this one.

Dont sweat it. Everything out there has at least 3 names. Mind running "amuck" is a natural tendancy in this hobby. Just learn to enjoy it!

Noel,
Have you tried the marketplace or local paper? On this forum ck. out the hosted clubs listed in the heading and see if anyone wants some, perhaps even for trade. I loved starting my 1st. reef tank with some easy polyps. You should of course tell them how fast they grew for ya. even though I have a good bunch just like yours that got to a nice size a long time ago and then stopped "growing". (The expert at the lfs said they were zoas ) Thanks to Jim for pointing out that everything in this area is often given 3 names) Good luck.

Are they zoo's?
Or ere they these newsome things that pop up here and there that get really large?
I think thats what your talking about and there are newsome.
Stop aptasia will kill them, I have injected the ones I can get to, there not a want in a reef tank.
Post a pic and I can help you

Ozzy - ck. post #16 - It is about 6 before this one - it is by "holiday" and has a nice attachment to click on to show the button polyps (or zoas as some of us were apparently told) In any case - If you ID it any different way I'd like to know. Also - thanks for tip on "stop aptasia" I'll look into that - sounds like it works.

Ozzy - never need to be sorry here - easy enough to miss an attachment. Glad you backed up the info that they are button polyps. Good additional info - thanks!

Ok, so I screwed up on my id and they are button polyps not zoos. How do I control them? Just frag a ton and get rid of them or is there another alternative?

Frag them, Their living animals and in my opinion there is no other option.
I don't know of any lfs that wouldn't take them, mine would give you store credit or advertise and sell them.
Sell $20 frags of 15-20 pollops or so, you'll get rid of them...
I already have the same ones or I would get some from you,
I personally wish mine would soread like that.
my tanks overstocked, I have sold alot of coral, you'll be able to get rid of them.
Where are you located?
