Default Colt Coral & Urchins

Ok, today I bought a 12 inch colt coral from my LFS and was wondering if my urchins will hurt it. For now I have the urchins in the fuge, but I have a 2 pincushion, 1 long spine, & 2 pencils. Please let me know if I should just watch them close, trade them in, or not worry about them. Thanks

It is possible, but when I had urchins I was more concerned with the urchin hitting my bubble coral or anenomes. If you keep the colt in the sand bed connected to a rock instead of on your rock scape, you should be okay. I don't see too many urchins on the sand bed, just the glass and rocks mainly.

Well, mine stay on the glass and sand bed most of the time. I have an overflow that is 1/4 off set and for now have the colt in front of it covering most of it, not to mention good heavy flow from the overflow. I will wait a day or two and see what everyone says, but I know urchins can hurt bubble corals and anemones.

What kind of urchins do you have? I had long spined black urchins when I kept them 2 years ago and they kept moving my rocks while trying to get in and out of tunnel ways.

I have 2 pincushion, 1 long spine, & 2 pencils. Me and the wife like them as much as we do fish, they are all over the tank day and night.

I agree, I remember them doing the same in my tank. I would say just keep an eye on them and decide if they will be a threat or not. A lot in this hobby is trial and error.
