Default evaporation

I have open tops on my tank and it seems like it looses ALOT! of water each day seems lika an inch of water per day. Do you loose that much water? Is that pretty common on open top tanks?

Yep, that's normal. Right now we have a fan blowing over the surface and the amount of evaporation is incredible!

Two things, what type of lighting do you have, how deep is your tank, how high is the light off the water surface and are you using A/C or a chiller? All of these will contribute to your water loss or savings.

I Invested In A Auto Top Off System For About A 100 Bucks Best Investment Yet. Cuts Down The Time I Have To Spend Filling It And Give Me More Time To Enjoy My Tank. Plus When Your Water Levels Get To Low Your Return Could Blow Bubbles Into The Water That Are Not Good For Your Fish. (depending On Your Setup)

I agree, my ATO was worth every penny and I only refill my Top off tank about once a week from evap.
