Default Help with micro-bubbles!?!

I have a Coralife 125 and it is a great skimmer and I recommend it to all of you. Coralife has designed a impeller that creates an outstanding amount of micro-bubbles. It is a hang on or submergeable. In my situation, I have a 54 corner tank, so I use it as a hang on. The problem it creates is the micro-bubbles over flow from the return container and are directly deposited into the tank. I have replace the sponge that is in the bottom the the container with a phosphate filter, but it was doing this before I had switched the sponge with the filter. I had also placed floss on the top of the container, in the attempt to catch the bubbles before they went into the tank, but it didn't work. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I have the same skimmer but a 65g model (on a 20 gal tank lol its the smallest they make). I also have the same problem. There is a black filter and a white filter, i think the black works best for catching bubbles. What I did is instead of putting the white filter on the bottom as directed, i stuffed it kindof halfway in the hole, halfway out but making sure there was no gap to let bubbles through. Then I added another similar black filter (that came with a power head) and put it on top of the orig. two, cut the return hose, and positioned it so that the water sort of runs over and into the filters instead of shoving it through. It helped a lot, but there are still some visible microbubbles that get carried by the current. Nothing close to as bad as it was when following the directions, but I still wouldnt put any sps corals in my tank (the little nooks and crannies catch bubbles really well, and my lighting wont allow it anyways).

by "halfway through the hole" I meant halway through the hole in the original black filter. I'll take some pics if you want, but keep in mind this will only help the problem, not stop it, and it does involve cutting the plastic return hose. I think this skimmer is probly better suited for a sump in the long run...

New solution: buy new bubble catching media. Got some from the lfs that is blue and more firm. It comes in rectangular blocks that you have to cut to size but when combined with a piece of pureflo filter pad (coralife) it basically eliminated all bubbles (for now at least). Not sure what the name of the blue foam stuff is but i think its intended for a larger filter. Cut a piece of the blue so that it fills the bottom half of the return cup at make sure it fits fairly tightly (cut it just barely bigger than the cup). Also, dont make the pureflo pad clover the blue entirely or the cup will just overflow. Fuss with it a little while and you'll get it- hope that helps

I have the same ps and have had no probs with that. All I have is the black filter over the back of the pump. Try adjusting your air in take make sure that you give it about a half hour in between adjustments. Let me know if this works (silly me tried to adjust the air and was not turning the right part when I first got it)
