| They eat things in the sand, usually a combination of pods and other living things in your live sand. The problem with sand sifting sea stars is that they need new fresh live sand otherwise they will starve to death unless you supplement with other foods. |

| I have had a sand sifting star in my tank. I never feed it anything and it only lasted for about 8 months. I am guessing that it eventually starved to death.
