Default Has anyones feather duster done this...?

Got up this morning and my feather duster had dropped its "crown". Now the worm is constantly moving back and forth in and out of its tube, almost like it's trying to fully crawl out if it. Has anyone had this same thing happen with their dusters? I have heard that they do drop there crowns and it will grow back, but the actual worm movement I have never read about before.
I have had it in my tank for almost 5 weeks now, and it has seemed to be perfectly content till now. Advice anyone?

Update: It has now left it's tube and is trying to move around in the tank. I put him on a rock with quite a few holes in it just encase its looking for a new home.
