| Ok, the tank is mine, but someone in my family thought carpet anemones were cool, so they bought one and two little clowns. OUR TANK IS 35 GAL.!!!: The pet store called it a project, and I agree. It already killed a snail, and now it is dying, too. Advice? |

How long has your tank been up and running? What for light and how many watts. What are your parameters? Quickly please. Why do you think its dying? What does it look like? There are 3 kinds of carpets. One kind that gets over a meter in diameter! The other two remain smaller. What kind do you have? Carpets are SPECIAL CREATURES. They are not a fish, coral or for that matter like other anemones. That is strictly my opinion. Carpets will eat your fish and anything else that touches it. Go back and read that one more time. Even a clown fish from time to time. Its just a matter of when! If a pet store sold the carpet to some one new to the hobby and called it a "project", they have done a disservice to the hobby and you. When you have time go to wetwebmedia.com and search carpet anemone for a lot of useful info. |

| Lets see what his tank params are and if the anemone is just stressed from being moved. Moving it again so quickly if his water is fine might do more damage than good. Carpets move less than any other anemone and usually attatch to LR or the tank quickly. If it has already attatched to something safe removal is difficult at best. They are STRONG creatures and when healthy STICKY like fly paper making them very difficult to move and handle. I absolutely love carpets, however, I must admit, because they are special animals needing some special requirements they should be in a species specific tank or just plain left in the wild. I would follow my own advice but I cant as there is no way I have found to get mine to budge! |

| Where did Crazy Kid go? I thought we had a critter dieing. CCCRRRAAAZZZYYYY!!!!! Whats going on!!!!!!! |

| Ok, sorry, I just had time to get back on. The tank is perfect. Perfect conditions. The tank is about 5 yrs. old. We got it from some friends, but they don't know tons about saltwater fish. We have had the carpet for a couple of months now, but it just attached to some gravel. It did pretty well for the first month, but now it just flops over and lays on its side. It is still firmly connected to the gravel and alive, just not doing too hot. I'll get a pic. asap, but first I have to get my camera fixed. |

| O.K., I have a Saddle Anemone/Striped Anemone. It was VERY healthy for a couple of weeks, now it is not doing so hot. It isn't my powerheads is it? They've been in there since we got the tank, but they pop off every once in a while. Last time they popped off, they blew the anemone onto its side. It is still alive, thankfully, but I don't know if I should get rid of it, do a huge water change, or what. We have a flourescent 2-light top, but it needs fixed. Only one of the lights works, and it isn't just the bulb. Anyway, I'll check the watts in the morning. |

| Too late...it died... and it is easy too tell tat it is dead |

You and the pet store really cant identify the animals you are purchasing let alone understand how to care for them and you still have not posted your tank params but say your, "water is perfect". Just to recap the facts. Animals placed in your care are dying with you knowing a lamp is burned out that is necessary for the animals existence and you are not posting tank params as asked for. Im sorry but it sounds like you are not ready for saltwater. Lack of research on your part has made the decision to buy these animals an irresponsible one. Until you post tank params there is little anyone can do to help you. And replace your bulbs. |

| one thing to remember when buying a anemone clown fish live and thrive in our tanks with out an anemone but they don't in nature with out the protection of thier host. studies indicate that most of the amones in the wild may be centuries old especially the carpets with no to very few juvinials when we take an amones form the sea and kill it not only have we killed it but also centuries of generations of clown fish in the wild (info form ronald l. shimek, ph.d.) |

Thanks for the quote |

| This is a disgrace that LFS would sell these animals with out first giving instructions on it's Lighting requirments. Also I recommend anyone wanting to care for anemones have the proper tank setup. This is very sad! ![]()

| Remember, as said, it wasn't my choice to by the carpet. I would've taken it back, but the pet store wouldn't take it back. |
