I have heard that an old credit card works really well to scrape the algae off of the sides.

My 90 g. is acyrlic. I also use the old credit card solution. It works well. I tested on my back wall first and saw no scratches/marks. I have been doing this for over a year, and the acyrlic still looks brand new! Hope this helps!

Mario, I would not say it is that sensitive. But the advantages that I have noticed is the weight. I know that a few times at lfs I have mentioned I have acyrlic, and they alwasy say...perfect for saltwater, Couldn't tell ya why! haha.

Make sure it's an old credit card and be careful when you reach the substrate because little sand particles can get caught up and do scratches.
The acrylic, unlike glass, will slowly degenerate. This is due to the tank lighting which slowly causes discolouration.I used to have an acrylic tank which was set-up for 6 years and during that time it went from clear to tinted.

Does the acrylic ever stain over time with all of the chemicals within the tank?
