Crushed Coral is not really a good substrate it hold's to much poo and food after feeding's..Do you have a clean up crew?? This would help if you dont..What's you useing for filtering the water..What color is the algae? If it's light brown it's a Diatom Algae Bloom>Here's the web site check it out.... www.natural algae control for reef aquariums.com G/L Brian Last edited by Brians125; 02-16-2007 at 11:23 AM.

Its a light brown and greenish mix. I have a Big Canister filter rated for 100 gal. I'm Not sure what yuou mean by cleanup crew? But I do have two snails and I HAD a scooter blenny that recently died from what seemed to be not getting enough to eat. There isnt really any way to switch from crushed coral now without restarting my whole tank is there?

a cleanup crew is a combo of snails, crabs, starfish etc that help clean up the uggy stuff in the tank lol, sand sifting stars, or maybe a cucumber, i have a lawnmower blennie that does a great job of sifting thru the live rock, along with a couple of tiger snails, narcissus snails, astrae snails and blue and red legged hermies, cleaner shrimp or peppermint shrimp are also a good addition to the tank, i also have a couple of green brittle stars that pick thru the rock and sand...hope this helps ![]()
