Pet Supplies, Dog Supplies, Cat Supplies, Pet Meds & Pet Products: Drs. Foster & Smith Pet Supplies has black Tahitian sand. The price is $19.99 for 20-pounds, with $9.99 shipping.

Estes makes a brand of sand called "ultra reef" sand and i know it comes in a ton of colors. I dont know if you are interested in it though because it does not sound like the best stuff, but it is really cheap. I was going to get some but decided to go with all live sand instead.

The store on I-25 and Highway 7 has a few bags still if your looking for a location. The only bad part with the black sand in my opinion is that is shows the waste stuff more easily. Not a big deal really... you just gotta clean more. Post some photos of your progress if you can! Photos are always great to look at.

The down side to black sand may be energy absorbtion from the tank lights.Sort of like a higway does.

I have to apologize in advance, My tank is dirty and wont look the best. I had a heater crack and fall apart in my tank killing everything by electrocution and copper poisoning. So I had to start over. So the algae is pretty ugly.

I have 21 pounds of live black sand with about a pound mixed into the black. The white sand was from my live sand when I first started the tank. If you only want pure black it can be found at Pet Smart. That is where I bought mine.

There is a sweet store down off 120th and Maine in broomfield- Called , "Liquid Kingdom". Its behind the KFC on the corner so its kind of hidden. Great place and knowledgeable folks. They make you bring in water samples before they allow you to buy fish. I used to think it was a pain in the butt - but its cool this way you don't kill your fish by accident. Only bad part is they don't like kids too well. When I take mine I make sure she stands right by me the whole time. I guess they had issues with other kids running around the store and hitting the tanks.

Also here is that sand sand Also I was telling you about- The dust is gray, but the sand looks black. Hope they load okay?
