my alkalinity has dropped. what do u folks do to raise your alk? are water changes enough? i shoot for about 8dkh. i have not done much in the way of water changes, perhaps i should increase the amount and frequency. anyone live in the panhandle of fla?

I use a 2 part system.Calcium and Kh as needed.I test twice a week.Water changes I do once a week(10%).

home made 2-part system. Cost me maybe 2 bucks a month!! Keeps my Ca at 480 and my Kh at 10. SPS love it!!!

Water changes may help, depending on the alk level of the brand of salt mix you use, but rarely is it enough alone. Usually, alkalinity and calcium need to be used in (near) equal dosages or your levels will get out of balance. For a young, 30 gal tank, you probably don't have a huge demand so I'd start with dosing kalk water or a two part calc/alk additive that you can buy at any store that sells saltwater supplies.
