Default Sailfin Tang

Ok i got a Sailfin for Christmas. and i put seaweed in the tank about every 2 days or so and it just attacks it. if he does not it it then it is gone with in a few hours. Now he looks really fat like he seams to be a 1/3 or so across. I'm i feeding him to much or is he a she and about to lay eggs !!!

Perhaps I would feed it the seaweed every third day or so and maybe 1/2 what you were giving it. It should graze the tank anyway and get algae that way also.

A sailfin in a 55? They get extremely large.

nah, I dont think the size of the tank has to do anything with it being fat lol. though i would only have it in a 55g temp.

I'm just saying it should be in a bigger tank...but I would feed less probably 3 small pinches a day if even that and less if you have only the tang.

If you get a tang small and let it grow out a little then get rid of it a 55 is fine. I am going to get a yellow for my 55 when it is set up but when i buy it it will be around an inch and a half long. It will be huge for him and then when he gets older trade him in for another one.
