Not sure where to post this. Hope this is right.

I recently purchased a tube anemone under the impression that it was a feather duster. That's what the guy at the pet store said anyways. Come to find an article saying that it's stinging cells are released into the water and can over time be harmful to Dwarf Angels.

Here's the problem. I really like my Coral Beauty and don't want to lose this fish, does anyone else have any info they could share on tube anemone's and if they are harmful to Dwarf Angels?

I also read that tube anemones will eat clown fish who try to host to them? Anyone have this happen to them? I have a small black and white false clown that swims too close sometimes to the anemone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I say take it back and tell them this is not what you said it was! If they do not take it then I would not buy anything from them again. I am sorry I do not know much about the tube anemone.

I dont think that anemones will kill your fish, especially a clown. I'm sure if I'm wrong someone else will chime in and correct me but I dont think that it should be dangerous to your fish. If you have other corals its possible that it can sting and hurt those. More than anything though I wouldnt but from that store anymore if they dont know the difference between a feather duster and an anemone.

I'm looking into another pet store outside of town that sells corals and fish. The guy at this pet store doesn't know what he's selling, and that's making me nervous because I still don't know what alot of things are yet. I sure hope this anemone doesn't kill my fish. He's been staying in one place and not bothering anything, except my Kenya Tree. I had to move the poor tree because he got stung.
I feel so foolish for believing the guy at the pet store.... Ugh. You're right though, I shouldn't buy anything from there again. Oh, and he has a "no return" policy. I'm stuck with this creature until I can find him a good home. Learned my lesson!

TUBE ANEMONES SUCK!!!!! We lost quite a few fish high dollar fish in our tank and couldnt figure out why they were dying or disappearing until finally figured out that the tube anemone was killing and eating the fish... Caught it in the act... the store owner seemed clueless to this fact when I brought it back to him... but he did the right thing and gave us credit for the anemone and replaced a couple of fish on his dime... GET IT OUT OF YOUR TANK NOW! AND DEMAND THE STORE TAKE IT BACK!!!
