Default Buying corals online?

Ok, I have figured out for myself that the internet is not the place to buy LR. Since I live in Alaska & it's a minimum of 20 + hours for it to get to me, unles I buy it from a dealer that ships it in water, most of it dies off. I'm wondering if the same is true for corals? In a month or some I want to buy some coral but I don't want to do the internet thing if they are going to suffer badly from the long trip.

I bought some coral on line and it was in water. But there was no heat pack and the coral died, Ur best bet is to find a dealer who sends in water with a 42 hour heat pack which some dealers will do for u, But they will need lots of tlc Its a very long trip
hope thats helped

Soft corals and zoos should ship just fine for you, but it wouldn't hurt to wait until the temp. warms up some though. SPS corals are tougher to ship and may not make it through shipping.

Ahhhh, I miss the -degree weather.... I'm in Texas and it's anywhere from 20-70 degrees now, makes me sick, literally too! My parents live in Ketchikan.

Oh, I've researched Liveaquaria.com, they seem to have a very good track record for livestock being shipped. It's $35 for shipping but, like I said, very good at getting specimins to the buyers in good condition and they have a arrive alive, 14 day or so guarantee. But ya, I agree with pogodzib, I'd wait till the summer to order those corals just to be safe.

Blu, I oprdered from them as well. The price was right but I ordered the Caribean Premium. They shipped on Delta about 8 AM Alaska time & it was ready for pick up about 1 AM that night. They just wsen't much for growth on the rock, they were mostly green. Here's how clean they were. I rinsed they of with a srayer & put them in a 55 gallon ( established) they riased the Ammonia level 1 ppm each day for 3 day's. 4 20% water changes in 4 day's & the tank levels out. I know LR is $$$ at the local store ($10/lb) but I think it's worth it, unless your filling a new tank & need base rock.
